CHAPTER 1

Spoiler:
Rayne stared at herself criticlly in the mirror. She sighed, and dug her hands deep into her jean pockets. I'll never get used to not wearing a uniform to school, she thought to herself.
"Rayne! If you miss the bus again, then I'm not taking you!"
She ran down the stairs, grabbing her bag off of the coffee table as she went. "See you when I get home!", she called out, running out of the door.
"Wait!"
"What...?", she moaned, backing into the hallway again, "You told me to to go..."
"Have you got everything?"
"Of course I have! Now can I PLEASE go?"
"As long as you haven't forgotten any-"
"I haven't, I haven't!", Rayne assured her mum, as she shut the door and ran down the drive as the bus pulled up. The bus was empty - her house was the first stop. She sat down on one of the long seats and rested her bag on her lap. The corner of her CD was jutting out of the top; she pulled it out. A blonde haired, blue eyed teenager stared out at her, flashing her pearly white teeth, the name 'Lyra Lovato' emblazoned on the cover.
"Rayne! Move up!"
Rayne hastily stowed the CD back into her bag, and moved closer to the window so that her friend Lisa could sit down.
"Oh - you got it!", Lisa squealed, tugging the CD out of Raynes bag, "I can't believe it - they're not even out yet! How did you manage to get one anyway?"
"Oh, well... you know how my uncles a music producer? He actually owns her label."
"What?! Why didn't you ever say that before?"
"Is it important?"
"It's amazing! Hey," Lisa called out the group of girls who had just piled onto the bus, "Come see what Rayne managed to get!"
Rayne sighed and slid down in her seat, staring out of the window as the Los Angeles scenery flew past. It was so different than London where she had grown up, until moving a few years back. She came out of her oblivious daydream as she heard the words "... anyway, did you read the paper this morning?"
Wait... what was on the front page of the paper this morning? It was - oh no... they were talking about it AGAIN...

CHAPTER 2

Spoiler:
"The Sailor Senshi, right?", Rayne asked."She actually saved Lyra Lovato, from that fire in her hotel! How lucky is she - she got to meet Lyra Lovato!"
"More like lucky Lyra...", laughed Lisa "She got to meet THE Sailor Senshi! Oh... wouldn't you love to be her?"
"Sailor Senshi?"
"Of course! I mean... she's so famous! And... having superpowers?!"
"And she's supposed to be devastatingly beautiful!" piped up another girl eagerly, pulling a newspaper out of her purse and showing it to the girls.
"But how can you tell?", asked Rayne, pointing at the blurry picture that had been taken by an amateur photographer a few weeks earlier, and had been used in every Sailor Senshi article since. "She's always wearing a mask!
"Well of course she is!", laughed Lisa, "She's dressed as Sailor V, from Sailor Moon - she has to wear the red mask! But anyway - you can totally tell what she's like anyway!"
"From that blurry picture!"
"Trust me - if we saw ever saw Sailor Senshi, we'd know it was her!"
"But of course you would!", laughed Rayne, "She'd be wearing a Sailor Moon outfit!"
"No!", said a boy who had come and sat opposite the large group of girls, "She means Sailor Senshis secret identity!"
"Yeah...", said Lisa thoughtfuly, "Seriously... that's ALL they talk about on TV now... trying to find out who she really is!"
Rayne shrugged, "She might not even HAVE a secret identity though. Isn't it just silly for the police to spend so much time trying to find her?"
"Oh come on!", the boy laughed, "They want to thank her!"
"Or experiment on her!", giggled Rayne dramaticly.
"Don't be silly Rayne... everyone LOVES her! I mean... she's getting her own TV show - 'Sailor Senshi'!" said Lisa excitedley, "So, are you going to the mall tonight? They're holding auditions, and if we get through, we get to go to the final auditions for the show in New York! We're all going except you Rayne - you have to come! You know how good you are at acting!"
Rayne shook her head, "No... my parents would never let me. Anyway, my accents too strong, and I'm awful at faking them."
The bus ground to a halt outside of the school.

"And now yet another day of anguish begins...", sighed Rayne, slinging her bag over her shoulder.
"Yeah... I bet Sailor Senshi doesn't have to go to school.", moaned another girl.
"Well if she has a secret identity she must!" laughed Lisa. "Hey - she could even go to our school! She'd be around 16 like us, right?"
"Oh yeah," said Rayne smiled, "Because I'm really Sailor Senshi and I forgot to tell everyone."
"I'm serious Rayne! She could!"
The girls kept talking about Sailor Senshi all the way to homeroom. "Oh...," gasped Robyn suddenly, checking her bag, "I've left something on the bus - cover for me, OK?"
Rayne ran back to the bus, and tapped on the door just as the engine started again. The driver opened the door and she walked back on, and leant over, scanning the floor. "There it is...", she whispered to herself, "It would have been awful if someone had found this...".
And she picked up a red mask.

CHAPTER 3

Spoiler:
Rayne woke with a start as the bell started to ring. Her friends laughed at the startled expression on her face.
"You fell asleep AGAIN?", Lisa asked her incredelously.
"Yeah... well - why didn't you wake me up?"
"Trust me Rayne - you did not want to have to go through that lesson! Anyway - we're all meeting up at 5 outside the mall. You have try out Rayne, seriously! It's every teenage girls dream to play Sailor Senshi these days!"
"Look... I'll come and cheer you all on, but - I just can't try out. I said before... my accents just too strong, and my parents would kill me if they found out."
"Fine..." Lisa sighed in defeat, "But you'll change your mind once we get there!"
No thanks... one famous life is enough for me thanks.

CHAPTER 4

Spoiler:
"I feel sick...", murmured Lisa, staring around her.
"Come on Lisa!", Rayne urged encouragedly, completley unphased by the thousands of girls piling around them, "Just think - the chance to play Sailor Senshi... just get through this and you'll be at the auditions in New York!" She waved as their other friends set off to the shops, having decided that this was all to much for each of them.
"But Rayne... there's so many girls here... and the judges!"
"What about them?"
"They're so famous Rayne! I - I can't do this!"
Rayne sighed. She knew that Lisa could do this if she just tried... but, the way things were going...
"Look, Lisa... if I give this a go with you, do you think you could do it to?"

Lisa looked up, suprised, "You'd really do that Rayne?"
"Well, I know that you can do this really well... I just want you to have the best chance you can!"
"Rayne... thanks so much! OK - we can do this then!"
The two girls walked over to the sign up table. It was empty - obviously, everyone who had felt up to signing up had already done so... by the looks of the many crowds of girls staring enviously at the girls entering the backstage area, many people had ducked out at the last minute.
"Umm... hi," said Lisa shyly to the woman at the sign up table, "We can still sign up, right?"
The woman smiled apologeticly at her, "Oh, I'm sorry, but all the girls have just gone through to backstage. I was just about to join them now..."
"Oh, please let us sign up!", pleaded Rayne, "Lisa just had nerves... but I know she's really great!"
The woman turned sharply from Lisa, and peered at Rayne. She looked up and down her.
"Um...what is it?", Rayne asked self conciously, fingering her red curls.
"Just a minute.", the woman pulled out a radio and spoke into it in hushed tones. After a few moments she placed it down. "Well... I suppose under these... special circumstances," she said, still looking at Rayne, "I'll just let you go through. Here are your passes."
"Really? Thank you!", said Lisa excitedley, grabbing their passes. "Come on Rayne!", she pulled her towards the stage. "Rayne - Rayne, what is it?"
Rayne was staring down at her feet, deep in thought. Special circumstances? What did that mean?
"Oh - nothing, silly! Come on, let's go!"

CHAPTER 5

Spoiler:
"Aren't you nervous?", giggled Lisa as they stood backstage with the other girls, "I mean... this is so big!"
Rayne smiled, "I'm not really nervous... I mean, I'm only doing this to keep you company!"
"I know, but still - it's kind of scary!"
"Well... it is a bit.", admitted Rayne, thinking how bizarre it was to be nervous about acting as herself. "I wonder what we'll have to do?"
"Don't you know? It was on all the adverts on the TV and papers for the auditions."
"Really? So what do we have to do?

20 minutes later

Rayne bounced on the tips of her toes, more eager then she would have liked to admit to see what was happening at the front of the hall. The girls had been organised into lines, and the judges were walking around them, making notes.
"What do you think they're writing?", Lisa whispered to her, "Doesn't this seem more like a beauty audition then an acting one?"
"I don't think they're taking notes on who's the prettiest... maybe they're checking to see who looks most like the descriptions of Sailor Senshi, if they want it to be authentic..."
A channel executive they recognised from many television conference walked up to them, sharp heels clicking on the floorboards.
"Hello young ladies...", she smiled to the line of girls, "I'm going to need to take your names before I can start making notes."
"Rayne Melkes", Rayne smiled at the woman, before turning to look at Lisa, who was standing very still. "Lisa...", she hissed.
"Oh - um, Lisa Stewart...", she managed to stutter.
The woman walked along the row, asking the girls all of their names and adresses in turn. She even asked strange questions, like the names of their high schools and any martial arts qualifications. Then she turned, stopping once again at every girl and making short notes. She stopped once she reached Lisa again, and peered down at her clipboard. "Lisa wasn't it? Well... we think you have the look we are searching for... I'll be back with the forms soon." The woman walked to the next row, leaving behind an incredibly stunned Lisa.
"Lisa!", squealed Rayne, "You did it! Isn't that amazing!"
"I can't believe it! Thanks so much Rayne - I wouldn't even have entered if you hadn't of!"
The woman who had talked to Lisa was now speaking quietly with a group of important looking men. She turned and pointed in their direction.
"Lisa - they're pointing at you!", Rayne gasped in delight, "They must think you're really great!"
"Oh my gosh... do you think - wait, why are they coming over here?"

CHAPTER 6

Spoiler:
The group of men in suits were walking towards them, the women leading them. They stopped just ahead of them, peering at some notes she had taken.
"Hello again girls.", she smiled at the two of them. "We'd really like to have a talk with the two of you - would it be okay if you came with us?"
"Oh," said Rayne, suprised, "Of course... but, um, why exactly?"
The woman smiled down at her... it really was uncanny how long she could stretch her mouth for. "We're very interested in the two of you... out of all the girls here, you are by far the most suited to our main role.", she turned and looked at Rayne. "Is that a London accent?"
"Yeah... that's where I come from."
"It's a rather intriguing accent... one which we think is very well suited to the mysterious character of Sailor Senshi. And you both have impressive martial arts qualifications... I'm sure you know that our main character would need to have these skills. And most importantly, your structure and features are very similar to what we know of the Sailor Senshi. Overall, we would appreciate it very much if you two would accept invitations to our professional New York auditions. There'll be many girls there who have been picked from auditions from across the country."
"Wha- really?", asked Lisa excitedley, "We'd love to - wouldn't we Rayne?"
"Fantastic,", said the woman, without waiting for Rayne to answer, "We already have your numbers and adresses, so we'll be contacting your parents or guardians soon. In the meantime, we'll be giving you some rough scripts and costume designs, as well as character back info. You can pick them up from the women over there,", she finished pointing behind the stage. "Oh - and congratulations."

CHAPTER 7

Spoiler:
"Can you believe this?", asked Lisa excitedley, as they walked down the street. She was flicking through the costume designs, seemingly oblivious to the world around her.
"Lisa - street!", squealed Rayne, pulling her out of the way just in time.
"Huh - oh, sorry. But seriously... haven't you ALWAYS wanted to wear something like this? It's so cool!"
"Oh, come on Lisa. You know how I am about dresses."
"This is a dress - this is pratically a Sailor Moon costume!"
Rayne sighed, and thumbed through the designs. It was true - they were amazing, almost exact replicas of the real one she wore, but with each with their own distinct style. But she had to keep up the pretence that she would never wear something like this... it would distance her even further from her secret identity as the Sailor Senshi. "It is nice...", she admitted, "But, anyway - what about the scripts?"
Lisa bit her lip as she rummaged around in her bag for her script. She opened it in the middle and scanned the page. "Oh my gosh!", she said excitedley, "Aren't these storylines great? It's got her secret identity as a school girl in it as well!"
"No.", Rayne said in disbelief, staring down at the script. "No,no,no,no,NO."
"What are you talking about?", asked Lisa curiously, looking over her shoulder, "What - ah! That is so cool! They've given her a love interest!
You have got to be kidding me a love intrest?!
"Well... anyway - Lisa, you know I can't do this, right?"
"What?! Rayne - they loved you though!"
"But - my parents would never let me do it. And... and..."
"Rayne.", said Lisa firmly, "Look - I wouldn't have had the courage to do this if you hadn't tried out with me. So, now it's my turn to help you! Don't worry - we're all going to do everything we can to make your parents see sense!

CHAPTER 8

Spoiler:
1 Week Later

Rayne waved as her mothers car made its way down the street. "Tell Gran I said hi!", she called out for the hundreth time that day. She wished that she could have gone with her mother to visit her grandmother as she came out of hospital back in London, but her duties as Sailor Senshi held her back. Not that her mother knew this... she thought that she was staying behind for the sole purpose of rehearsing for her New York auditions. It turned out that she was, bizzarly, incredibly happy about this... although Rayne knew that if she had told her before the mall auditions, she would not have let her go within 10 miles of them. She sighed, and turned back into her front drive.
"Rayne!"
"Wha- oh, Lisa?", she gasped, turning to see Lisa leading a large gaggle of girls up towards her house, "I thought you were doing the White House tour again today?"
"Yeah, well, I convinced my aunt this is more important for now."
"What's more important?"
"ABCs running a Sailor Senshi special today - so we've all come round to watch it at your house!"
"Erm...", said Rayn weakly, "Why do we have to watch it at my house?"
"Because we know you won't come round to any of ours!", said another girl accusingly, "Seriously Rayne... you've been so private recently!"
"Yeah,", chorused Lisa, "Really - what are you hiding from us? Is it a secret boyfriend?"
"Wh-no!", gasped Rayne, blushing, "I've just had lots of things to do recently!"
"Well - now what you and me both have to do is get ready for these auditions... so we should find out more about Sailor Senshi! We need to build up a personality for her secret identity... we don't know what those television executives want us to do. All that woman said was that she was 'mysterious'.
"Mysterious?"
"You remember - when she was talking about your accent. So much for it being too strong!"
Rayne sighed in defeat... they were starting to probe into her personal life - it would be safer just to let them in. "Ok then!", she said brightly, "Let's go watch!"

CHAPTER 9

Spoiler:
"Woah...", gasped a girl as Rayne switched off the TV, "That was so scary!"
"I know," said Lisa, "I can't believe anyone our age would risk their live like that. Although...", she laughed, heaving herself out of the armchair, "The superpowers have got to help!"
Rayne sighed, leaning back into the sofa as she flicked through the script again. She could not help but admit that she loved the storylines... they seemed highly reminiscent of the original Sailor Moon anime - mixing together her normal life with that of Sailor Senshi. It was obvious that it was going to be a hit around the world. "So, have you learnt the lines yet?"
"The lines?", asked Lisa, "Which ones?"
"Well - all of them?"
"What?", gasped a girl in suprise, "You've learnt all of that!?"
Lisa rolled her eyes. "Of course she had. It's Rayne of course - Little Miss Perfect."
"Lisa, I am not perfect.", Rayne insisted.
"Oh yeah?", laughed a girl. "Right then - sing that song from the script... the one that was giving Lisa all that trouble."
"Sing?", Rayne asked in suprise, "No way! You know I can't sing!"
"You always say that, but we've never even heard you sing Rayne! Just give it a go!"
Rayne bit her lip and stood up, flicking her way to the opening song. She had already learnt the words, but felt better if she was looking at the script and not her eager audience.

Something changes, when loves reaches here...
And my dream, at last, becomes true...
By hand, we both will walk...
Thousand of stars protected my love...

Rayne broke off and looked up, embarassed. "What?!", she asked, realiszing everyone was staring at her, open mouthed, "I know it was bad but -"

"Rayne!", gasped Lisa, "That was amazing!"
Rayne rolled her eyes, "Very funny Lisa."
"No - really Rayne!", insisted another girl, wide eyed, "How did you get so good?"
"Erm...", she said embarassedley, "Really, I wasn't that good!", she twirled a red curl around her finger nervously and sat back down. "Anyway - rehearsel time! Everyone can help!"

CHAPTER 10

Spoiler:
"So...," Lisa called out, flicking to the front of the script, "Scene 1 characters, scene 1 characters... oh, here it is: Faith Taylor AKA Sailor Senshi, Trisha - Faiths Room-Mate, Carly Nina and Eiranjit - Faiths Classmates, Jason - Faiths Best Friend. Er - who doesn't mind playing a boy?"
"Don't worry," Rayne assured them, "He doesn't have any actual lines in the first scene anyway, so no-one needs to play him... we can just read out the lines now to check if we've memoriszed the script. Lisa, do you want to go first as Faith? I'll be Trisha... I've memorised her lines as well anyway, since she interacts so much with Faith."
"I'll be the prompt!", said another girl excitedley, picking up Lisas script. Rayne handed hers to the three girls playing Faiths classmates, and they all got into their starting positions.

Rayne: Faith! Faith - wake up! Faith... come on!
Lisa: Wh-Trisha? Why are you waking me up so early...?
Rayne: Early? Faith, we've slept through the alarm again!
Lisa:... Erm, what's my line?

Rayne sighed as the prompt girl called out to Lisa. They continued, getting a few more lines in before stopping for Lisa again. The rehearsel continued in this vain until they finally finished the scene.
"Okay!", called out Lisa hapilly,"Let's start the next one!"
"No, Lisa, we can't," Rayne told her, handing her back her script, "You have to do this one step at a time - we both need to master the first scene before we can move on! It's no use knowing a few lines from all the scenes - you need to get at least one whole one in your memory. Try using the script this time."

30 minutes later

"You did it Lisa!", laughed a girl, "You got through the first scene without looking at the script once!"
"Finally," sighed Lisa, collapsing back into the armchair, "This stuff is harder than it looks!"
"Here's your script Rayne," said another girl, passing over her lines, "But how did you learn all this off by heart?"
Rayne shrugged, "I dunno... I'm good at remembering useless stuff - like every single detail and layout in videogames, and things I read in books, but then I forget vital things like whether I've opened the door before I try and walk through it!"
"Well, this definetley isn't useless", laughed Lisa, checking her watch, "Oh - I've gotta go, my aunt'll be getting home soon. Let's pratice on IM tonight Rayne!"
"Erm... tonight," said Rayne uncomfortably, "I kind of have things to do tonight..."
"Like what? It can't be chores.... your mums gonna be out of the country for who knows how many weeks. What are you doing?"
"Uh... I..."
"Oh - I get it! You really do have a secret boyfriend!"
"Wh-no!"
"Well," Lisa sighed dramaticlly, "I can't argue with true love."
"Lisa!"

CHAPTER 11

Spoiler:
The woman smiled cruelly as she unpicked the necklace from the figure lying unconcious on the floor. She placed it around her neck, admiring the diamonds shimmer in the light of the fire. She delicatley tossed the figure over with her foot, closer to the lick of the flames.
"Lyra..."
The woman turned in alarm to face the shilouete in the open window. Long hair flew behind her in waves, and she was blocking any exit through it with a gloved hand. The womans eyes narrowed and she back away from the mysterious figure.
"Do you really think I was fooled by you Lyra Lovato?"
Lyra smirked as she faced the figure defiantly, "And do you think that I'm afraid of you? You can't do anything to me, 'Sailor Senshi'."
The Sailor Senshi sighed, and leapt gracefuly from the high windowsill, landing far too lightly. "Look around you Lyra... you have no way out..."

The Next Day

Knock.Knock.Knock.
Rayne rubbed her eyes wearilly and sat up in bed. She pulled a hairbrush out of her drawer and tugged it through her hair. Yawning, she walked out of her room and down the stairs, opening the door.
"Rayne! Rayne, Rayne!"
Rayne backed away, suprised. Lisa was standing on her doorstep, clutching a newspaper and bouncing up and down.
"Lisa... it's 8 in the morning... what are you so hyper about?"

"Look at the paper! Look at the paper!"
Rayne took the paper and walked back into her house, closely followed by an excited Lisa. The front page screamed 'Star Lyra Lovato Exposed By Sailor Senshi'.
"It's incredible... Lyra Lovato was the one who was kidnapping all of those celebrities AND the one who was commiting all those murders AND -"
"Yeah, I know Lisa, I can read it in the newspaper...", yawned Rayne.
But can you believe it?! AND she got caught by Sailor Senshi... it said on the news that the fire in Lyras hotel last week was started by her so that the police would think she was being targeted too, and the Sailor Senshi figured it out!", Lisa sighed, "That must mean she's really smart too... now I need to work that into my character audition as well! Oh - that reminds me... have you been sent the package yet?"
"What packge?"
Knock. Knock Knock.

CHAPTER 12

Spoiler:
Rayne opened the door again. Standing in front of her was a tired looking looking delivery man, clutching a hefty parcel in front of his face.
"Delivery for Rayne Melkes..", he said weakly.
"Oh - um...", she pulled the box out of his hands effortlessley and placed it on the floor, "Do I need to sign for it or something?"
The man pulled a clipboard out of his rucksack; Rayne took it and searched the telephone table for a pen as Lisa read out the note on the package.
"For ABC television candidate Rayne Melkes - Upcoming Series 'Sailor Senshi'. Do not open unless you are the specified reciever."
"Thanks", Rayne smiled as she shut the door, "Er... do you need any help Lisa?"
"Just a bit!", Lisa gasped, rubbing her fingers where she had tried to pick up the box. Rayne leaned over and carried the box to the conservatory with ease.
"How'd you get so strong Rayne?", asked Lisa curiously.
"Oh - um tae-kwon-doe... anyway," Rayne said, sitting down, "What do you think this is?"
"Well," said Lisa eagerly, as Rayne ripped open the package "If it's the same as what I got then it should be - yeah, that's it!"
Rayne pulled out a sheaf of papers from the top of the pile. "Tickets... forms... questionares..."
Lisa rummaged around in the bottom of the box, "Oh don't look at the boring stuff, fill it in later!", she pulled out a mass of folders and videotapes from the bottom. "Look... all the Sailor Senshi coverage!"
"Um... that's a lot..."
"I know... but it actually is really interesting - especially the bits from when she first appeared and everyone was wondering who she was! Come on - let's watch it!"

CHAPTER 13

Spoiler:
Rayne flicked through the folder of newspaper clippings as Lisa sat on the living room floor, glued to the television screen. When she had first masqueraded as Sailor Senshi, the media had gone into a frenzy... normal programmes were cancelled and all that was shown were news channels rambling on about her - Rayne could remember mourning the loss of Ugly Betty. Newspapers were full of it - the mysterious teenager with superpowers. All over the world... press conferences being held by world leaders... even everyone at school talked of nothing less. Many teachers merely stayed at home, as glued to the repetitive news reports as Lisa was now.
"Lisa...", yawned Rayne, "Are you done watching this? Because, you know I really would like to change out of my pyjamas..."
Lisa rolled her eyes, and stood up, grabbing her bag. "Fine. But I'll be round again in 2 hours - we fly out to New York in THREE DAYS you know!"

CHAPTER 14

Spoiler:
Sailor Senshis hand moved weakly to her heart. She sighed faintly and dropped silently to the ground. Her mouth opened to speak what could be her last words to her secret love...
"OK, OK Rayne, now it's my turn!"
Rayne sat up annoyed, "Lisa! I haven't finished this scene though!"
"But I need to practice!"
Rayne sighed and stood up, straightening her jeans. They were practicing at her house again - all of their friends had turned up to help, which meant that they even had people to play the boys. She sat down in the armchair and Lisa moved to the middle of the room, still clutching at her script. It was the day before their flight, but Lisa was still using the words for almost all of the scenes. "I'm gonna go make some drinks - what does everyone want?" The room called out all of their orders - she nodded and walked to the kitchen. Rayne opened the cuboards and pulled out some mugs. She closed the cuboard and jumped in suprise as she saw a few girls had followed her into the kitchen.
"Oh... um, did you want something different?"
"No... we wanted to talk about Lisa..."
"Lisa? What about her - is something wrong?"
"Well -", said a girl uncomfortabley, before another elbowed her, urging her to go on, "It's just that... well, she's not very good, is she?"
"Good?", asked Rayne confused, "Of course she is - she's a great actor!"
"She's OK... but, well, she never remembers any of her lines! And she's always being really difficult when she rehearses..."
Rayne frowned as she filled up the mugs, "Yeah, well... it's just nerves that make her act like that - and everyone would find it hard to learn that many lines..."
"But you didn't Rayne! You've memoriszed all the lines, and you're a brilliant actor! Really... it's like you really are Sailor Senshi - you're even better at this then you are normally when you act!"
"Yeah,", said another girl, "So... don't you think we should just be helping you instead? I mean - we all agree that you could totally do this... you're so great at it!"
Rayne smiled ruefuly, "No... I'm only doing this so that Lisa will anyway - I know I couldn't ever be an actor... I'm just not good enough!"

CHAPTER 15

Spoiler:
"Tickets?"
"Check!"
"Er... all clothes?"
"All 100 outfits!"
Rayne bit the pen as she scanned the list, "You haven't seriously packed 100 outfits, have you Lisa? We're only going to be there for a week."
"A week and a day! So, I need the outfits!"
"...So how did you fit that all into your suitcase?", Rayne asked, examining the somehow zipped bag, "Is it a TARDIS in there or something?"
"What's that?"
"Never mind... what time is it now Lisa?"
Lisa checked her watched for the umpteenth time that morning, "Almost ten... admit it Rayne - you're nervous!"
"I'm not nervous!"
"Then why do you keep asking for the time every five minutes, when there's a clock just behind you!"
BEEP.BEEP.BEEP.
Rayne peered out of the window, "Lisa - your aunts here to take us to the airport!"

1 Hour Later

"... and remember to -"
"Auntie Kelly, I know!", Lisa moaned, as Rayne walked back after checking the incoming flights board. "You've said it all ten times already - if it hasn't sunk in by now, it isn't going to! And seriously, you don't need to tell me all this... I can take care of myself!"
"Of course you can," said her aunt reasuringly, "Don't let her out of your sight Rayne...", she added firmly as she sat down.
Lisa checked her watch, "It's gone 11 now... aren't you going to be late for work?"
Her aunt jumped up in suprise, grabbing her bag. "Oh, you're right! I'll be off then - be careful Lisa!"
Lisa rolled her eyes as her aunt sprinted away, waving. "So, what did the board say?"
"Well," answered Rayne, packing her books back into her rucksack, "It says we're about to start boarding! Come on Lisa!"

CHAPTER 16

Spoiler:
"Lisa!", hissed Rayne, as she looked up from her book, "Put the script away!"
"Wh-why?"
"Because it's illegal to show them to other people in public before the series airs!"
"But.. we showed it to everyone who helped us rehearse!"
"Just put it away Lisa", she pleaded urgently, realiszing that the fact that the script was emblazoned with the words 'SAILOR SENSHI ABC SERIES PRIVACY LAWS APPLY' was drawing attention from the people around them.
Lisa rolled her eyes, but placed the script back into her purse. "And I wanted to practice the songs as well..."
"We can not put 300 angry jet lagged people through 4 hours of our singing!"
"Lisa... just sit back and relax. Watch TV or something... Ugly Bettys on - you know, the one that was cancelled after Sailor Senshi caught Lyra Lovato."
"Fine... but isn't it weird how whenever Sailor Senshi does something there's a media frenzy and EVERYTHING gets cancelled and replaced with a million new reports? Haven't they got used to her yet? It's like all the politicians in the world are like - she's done something again - this means we didn't imagine her!"
Rayne laughed, "It's a teenage with superpowers masquearading as a superhero... how are they supposed to act?", she sighed and leant back in her seat, switching over to the BBC.

CHAPTER 17

Spoiler:
3 and a Half Hours Later

Rayne pushed their luggage trolley out of the entrance, behind Lisa.
"Er - you could carrysomethingyou know?"
"Huh? But I am..."
"Ah yes...", muttered Rayne, as they trundled down towards the terminal train, "Your makeup bag... So, which terminal do we need to get the train from?"
"Ermm... this one I think - it should take us to where we're being picked up."
The girls settled down in their seats, and pulled out the letters that had been sent to them. "So... after we get there a representitive from the company should be waiting for..."
"Oh my gosh Rayne!", Lisa interupted her excitedley.
"What?"
"Look over there!"
Rayne turned, and realiszed that a teenager had entered the train just before it had left the terminal. Her jean clad legs were folded neatly overachother and a classy handbag dangling off of her arm. Her clothes were... Rayne could think of no other word for it than unbeliveably stylish - the kind that would make you wince just thinking about the price tag. She had long, golden hair and hazel eyes that were peeking out from underneath chic sunglasses, fixed directly on her.
"Oh yeah... why is she looking at me?"
"But don't you know who she is?!"
"I take it I'm supposed to?"
"That's Tali Stevens! Tali Stevens!"
Rayne continued to look blankly from the teenager to Lisa. "She plays Tina in 'Lani High'!", Lisa squealed excitedley.
Rayne frowned and turned to look again at the girl. She seemed very different from the character she portrayed on TV - an innocent high school girl on a scholarship, struggling to fit into a sorority.
"Oh yeah...", Rayne shrugged, picking up her letter again, "I suppose she's been invited to the audition as well."
"Rayne Melkes, right?"
Rayne looked up, suprised. Tali Stevens was standing in front of her, hands on hips.
"Um... I'm sorry, have we met before? Only I don't remember saing my name..."
"Oh, the producers told me all about you," Tali said, swinging a sheaf of her golden hair behind her shoulder.
"Right.. um, why exactly did they do that?"
But Tali continued to stare down quizzicly at her, "I see what they meant... they were right about you..."
Lisa looked from her friend, to Tali and back, confused. Tali smiled cruely, "Well - nice to meet you Rayne. I have a feeling we'll be seeing a lot of eachother soon..."
"Wh-what was that?", whispered Lisa, as Tali picked up her bag and walked over to the doors, waiting for them to open, "How did she know you?!"
"I - I don't have a clue...", Rayne answered, biting her lip, "But... look - the doors are open... we can ask the producers when we get there. Come on!"

CHAPTER 18

Spoiler:
Lisa and Rayne seemed to be the only people in the room who were not shooting daggers at other girls with their eyes. She recognised most from films and television programs she had watched in the past... other she did not - she supposed these were the few girls who had been picked from auditions across the country, like her and Lisa. Even these girls looked like potential models... They were waiting in a large, modern looking room in the television program offices, waiting to be called out. The process had already been explained to them in a group... that the role of Sailor Senshi was the largest in TV these days, and possibly ever.
"Lisa Stewart?"
"Good luck Lisa!", called out Rayne, prompting the whole room to fall silent and stare at her - obviously, these girls did not feel there was any room for good wishings in this buisness.

20 Minutes Later

"And, Rayne Melkes."
Rayne stood up - she was the last one to go. She smiled, and followed the women through the corridors and up the stairs. She gasped as the woman opened the door. Inside was a perfect set of what looked like a burning hotel room. She vaguely remembered her encounter with Lyra Lovato, but remembered that the script had been written long before that had happened... and anyway, the episodes were supposed to be fiction.
"Hello, dear.", smiled the director encouragenly. He seemed worn out and tired - obviously most of the girls he had tried out had not been to his satisfaction. "If you could just grab a script, we're doing -
"Episode 1, Act 18 part 2, right?"
The director seemed stunned. "Yes - yes, that's right! Oh, where did Eileen put the script..."
"It's okay," Rayne smiled, "I'm sure I'll be fine without one - and you look like you want to get through this quickly."
"Well... yes, the girls today haven't really lived up to 'Sailor Senshi'. But...", he said thoughtfuly, "I'm getting a very good feeling about you... roll the cameras boys, I want this girls auditon on tape!"

CHAPTER 19

Spoiler:
"Rayne! Rayne, how did it go?"
Rayne shrugged as she walked into Lisas hotel room, "OK I guess... they seemed to like me. But what about you Lisa? I couldn't find you when I came out of my interview after the auditon... they said everyone had been driven to the hotel in one go before -"
"Interview? What interview?", Lisa interrupted her.
"The one in the room over from the photoshoot, to see how I photograph."
"Photo... Photoshoot?"
"Yeah.. But I guess I wasn't very good, because I took way longer than everyone else...", Rayne sighed, "And here was me hoping I could
get one of the little roles in an episode, like someone who points out the way when the Senshis lost, or a student or something..."
Lisa laughed, "Very funny Rayne - like they gave you a photoshoot! Seriously - why did you come back seperatley from everyone else?"
"I told you", Rayne said, sitting down on the sofa, "Because I was probably so awful in the interview and the photoshoot, and we had to keep redoing the scenes to get the different angles in the test filming."
"Filming? Rayne - are you serious?", asked Lisa incredlously, "They actually filmed your audition, like a proper scene? And you had an interview? With who?!"
"The directors and channel executives..."
"The ABC executives!?"
"Well... didn't everyone?"
"You're actually not kidding are you?! And a professional proper photoshoot?!"
"Lisa... why are you so suprised?"

30 Minutes Later

Rayne was sitting in the private buisness lobby, waiting. The large door behind her opened; she heard the clack of buisness likes shoes walking across the perfectly polished floor.
"Rayne, darhling, so good to meet you."
Rayne turned in her seat and saw a smartly dressed man flashing a mouth full of white pearls at her, a group of what she recognised as channel executives behind him.
"I believe we have some things to discuss with you..."

CHAPTER 20

Spoiler:
"Oh, um... right,", Rayne placed the book she had been reading onto the seat next to her, "It's nice to meet you as well Mister..."
"Oh, how typical. I haven't introduced myself!", the man held out a hand, "I'm Chris, Chris Jones - but you can call me Chris of course Rayne. Or do you prefer Miss Melkes?"
Raynes eyes widened in suprise. Chris Jones was the famous talent agent who had made superstars like Tali Stewart and (rather ironiclly) Lyra Lovato.
"Um, Raynes fine, Mister Jones..."
"Now now, what did I say? Call me Chris!"
"Chris", said an important looking executive behind him, "Don't get ahead of yourself - we haven't discussed anything with her yet."
Rayne bit her lip as the men and woman sat down, "Um... what did you want to discuss, exactly?"
The executive seemed suprised, "Well, I thought it would have been obvious Miss Melkes. We're here to offer you the role of Sailor Senshi."
...
The woman producer smiled, "You seem suprised? Well, I must admit, it is rather unusual for us to cast a main role in any series so early after the audition, especially one in such a groundbreaking show like this, but, out of all the girls we brought in who we thought would be suited for the role, you stood out by far the most. We've contacted the heads of the network, and they were stunned by the performance you gave in the audition, and the professional manner which you acted in in the interviews and photoshoot. They were very suprised to learn that you haven't been involved in this buisness before."
Rayne opened her mouth to speak, but another executive cut across her.
"Of course, it would normally be procedure to spend time careful reviewing each potential candidate, but since the heads of network seem so eager to bring you on board on this production, we don't really think that would be nessecary. Is this coming as a bit of a shock to you?"
"Um... just a bit," Rayne murmured weakly.
"Well, considering the scale of this production, I suppose that's not suprising. I must warn you... this show is tipped to be the one of the greatest hits of all time, especially due to its main focus, the Sailor Senshi. Anyone involved in it at all will most definetley be in great command by the public and media... for you to play the main character, you will be in great command. Not that we want you to feel pressurised into making any desicions about this just yet,", he added, pulling some folders out of his briefcase, "We'll need you to look through these; seeing as you are over 16, you can sign for them yourself without your parents."
The woman pulled an expensive PDA out of her jacket pocket, "You'll need to attend some meetings tommorrow to discuss the role with the producers and heads of the network... would it be okay if I came to discuss those with you later today? Great, what time?", she continued, without waiting for Rayne to answer.
"Whatever time suits you I suppose..."
"Perfect. I'll come back to see you at around 6ish then, after my report back to the network bosses.", she said, standing up - the men around her followed suit, "There will be a private concierge waiting for you at the door to take you to your private suit Rayne... I'll see you then."

CHAPTER 21

Spoiler:
"...so everythings alright with gran now? Yes I know I've asked about a hundred times, ", Rayne rolled her eyes as she spoke into the phone, "But I'm just checking mum!", she rolled onto the other side of her suites queen sized bed, "Anyway... when did you say that you'd be coming back? A couple of weeks - right... you know, it's really no hurry. I'm doing fine here... oh, the auditions? No...", she lied carefuly, "They haven't made a desicion yet... it'll probably be weeks until they do, you know how big this thing is."
KNOCK.KNOCK.KNOCK.
"Gotta go," Rayne said hurridley, hanging up on the phone. She took the long walk from her bed to the door and opened it a crack.
"Hello Rayne," smiled the woman executive, "May I come in?"
"Um... just let me do one thing!", Rayne said quickly, shutting the door again, and running over to her bed, under which she stowed something, "It's okay to come in now!", she called out. The woman walked through the door and looked around the room.
"Ah - why don't we go into the office?"
Rayne looked round to where to woman was pointing, and saw an oak door she had not noticed before. "Oh - there's an office?"
"Well, it is the buisness suite after all", laughed the executive.
Rayne stood up and opened the door for the women. She went in behind her and shut the door.

3 Days Later

Rayne quickly typed into the computer as the timer counted down on the corner of the screen. "I knew I should have bought more nickles...", she whispered to herself, glancing nervously at the 1 Minute Alert box that had just popped up, "Send!", she moaned, franticlly clicking over and over, "Why does it have to get slow now?!"
"Miss Melkes?"
Rayne looked up in suprise - a smartly dressed chaffeur was looming over her.
"Oh - is it that time already? Oh, I'm really sorry,! I just meant to check my email before you got here, but then I remembered I needed to send my US Government homework to my teacher... and actually do it, to be honest...I haven't made you wait, have I?"
Her chaffeur cocked his hat at her politley, "It's no trouble at all Miss Melkes, the car has just arrived."
"Oh, phew!", she sighed in relief, "I was worried you'd been waiting for ages!", she quickly picked up her purse, and, checking that her email was closed, turned off the hotels computer. She walked behind him, out of the entrance of her new hotel.
"This way m'am", the chaffeur led the way to the V.I.P section, where a large crowd of photographers lay in wait. The major newspapers had been sending reporters ever since they had recieved a tip off that the candidate for Sailor Senshi had been transferred to this hotel. Not that it mattered - they were all under strict instruction to look out for teenage superstars... none of the media had expected someone unknown to be offered this role. Rayne suspected that they were under the impression that she was the child of a rich parent in show buisness. She insisted on opening the door herself, saying that it was the least she could do to open her own door after she had made him come and fetch her. Inside the limo, she pulled her new PDA out of her bag and started to send an email.

To Lisa,

Just leaving the hotel now... the meeting looms! At least I'm seeing the sights though - I've never seen the Statue of Liberty before yesterday! Well... unless you count the half a dozen times we watched Ghostbusters 2 :) Anyway, while I'm on the subject of films, you'll never guess who's staying at this hotel! Orlando Bloom Bowdown ! (Never gave you much of a chance to guess though did I :).) I had to make Kelin (the bodyguard I was talking about yesterday) promise that if I made a run for Orlando, he'd knock me out before I got the chance, so I wouldn't have to go through the whole 'restraining order' thing :) So, what time is your interview? I so hope it goes well and you get the part of Nina... we'd have so much fun! Fingers crossed for the both of us

Rayne tonic (Oh yeah - two words... SODA FOUNTAIN! IN MY HOTEL ROOM! When we get back to LA we so have to get one... although I may be getting a little addiction problem...)

CHAPTER 22

Spoiler:
Raye felt the familiar twinges of guilt as she looked up at the ABC Headquarters. She knew that this where Lisa had wanted to be her whole life... and now, because of some strange twist of fate, she had ended up here, being offered a dream role as the Sailor Senshi... as if it wasn't enough that she was the real thing. Should I really do this?, she wondered to herself, looking down at her feet. Isn't being the real Sailor Senshi? Is it fair that I take this too? Rayne sighed and moved her gaze from the floor towards the gleaming stone steps that lead to the entrance. But... just being the Sailor Senshi doesn't mean that's all I can be in life... does it? I want to be my own person...
"Miss Melkes?", called out her chaffeur worriedley. He was holding open the entrance door at the top of the steps for her.
"Wh-oh! Um, sorry... lost track of things for a minute again!", she apologised, running up to meet him.

2 Hours Later

"Dinner?", asked Rayne, suprised, "That's very nice of you to offer, and I'm sure it would be lovely to discuss things more, but I promised to meet a friend soon, and talk with her about what's been going on recently... to be honest, I'm still struggling to take everything in."
The network chief nodded, and, after talking for a few more minutes, Rayne made her way out of the building. Suddenly, she was hit by blinding lights from every direction.
"Miss! Miss, what's your name?"
"Why are you being chosen as the person to play this countries most famous woman, Sailor Senshi?"
"Over here!"
"How were you discovered? Miss, over here!"
Rayne rubbed her eyes in disbelief. There were hordes of photogaphers and reporters, all scrambling to see her. The executives had told her that they expected after a teenage girl walked into the ABC offices having driven from The Folonzey Hotel that some reporters might be suspicous of her, but she had never anticipated THIS. Guards surrounded her, and more stood on the outskirts of the crowds, pushing them back.
"Miss Melkes!", called out her chaffeur from behind the reporters, "I've brought the limo here, to the front!"
The guards grouped tighter around her, one speaking into a radio.
"Yes - we'll get her out of here. Orders not to speak to the media? Roger sir.", the head guard (at least Rayne supposed he was) turned to her, "I'm afraid there's been a mishap ma'm. Apparantley the media intrest in this story is even greater than anticipated. We have orders to get you to your limo immediatley."

10 Minutes Later

To Lisa

Uh... I think I was just MOBBED. By the media nonetheless... why is it never the cute boys who do the mobbing?! But seriously... slightly shaken! Seriously, my chaffeur (Jeffrey) just handed me a blanket, because I was really shaking so much. Might be a bit late for our lunch - we're involved right now in what Jeffrey calls a 'Monge Luitn Manouvere'. And for those of us whose first language is English? As far as I can tell, it's a car chase by the media, so we have to 'shake them off'. Who knew New York had so many backalleys? But anyway, BEFORE I was attacked by reporters, the meeting seemed to go well. The Heads of ABC even invited me to lunch at 'The Renery' so we could discuss the series more. How do you think I should break it to them that I pretty much live on a diet of bread and pasta?! However I do it, for now, I won't be going to any posh restuarants! But, to be honest, none of this is important compared to this question - HOW DID YOUR INTERVIEW GO? You know how impatient I am Lisa, I can't wait for you to tell me when I finally get there! Talk to me on IM, ok?

CHAPTER 23

Spoiler:
IM BLOG
Lisa: Rayne. Turn on your laptop NOW. Guess what's the top story on every news channel?
Rayne: What? You know I didn't bring it with me! Tell me what it is!
Lisa: 'Mystery Girl Snatches Sailor Senshi Role'?! Rayne, WHAT have you done?!
Rayne: Nothing! I told you I got mobbed by the media...
Lisa: I didn't think you meant every major channel! I'm sending you the NBC clip now...
Rayne: Well... it doesn't look like they got a real picture of my face, at least.
Lisa: Yeah - but if this what it likes when someone just walks out of the offices...
Rayne: Well - I'll cross that bridge when I come to it! Anyway - you're avoiding the question Lisa! HOW DID THE INTERVIEW GO?
Lisa: Now, what kind of friend would I be if I told you that, when you made me PROMISE I wouldn't until we got to lunch ;)?
Rayne: One that saves me from going insane waiting to find out!
Lisa: Hey - YOU made me promise.
Rayne: Lisa...

CHAPTER 24

Spoiler:
Rayne peered out of the blackened windows as a long collumn drew into view.
"Is this it?", she asked excitedley, "Is this Central Park?"
"Spotted Cleopatras Needle, did you?", laughed Jeffrey from the drivers seat.
"Cleopatras Needle? Isn't that the one by the Thames?", Raye frowned, remembering a school trip to the middle of London where a boy named Matthew had fallen into the Thames behind the needle.
"They're a pair Miss Melkes,", Jeffrey informed her knowlegabley, as he pulled up the nearest they could get to the park, "But I'm afraid this is as close as I can get."
Rayne smiled and picked up her bag. "That's okay," she laughed, opening her door, "I need to get some exercise anyway! Would it be okay if you came back at around... um, three?"
"Whatever you want ma'm."

10 Minutes Later

Rayne settled down beneath a tree, and pulled out her PDA again. She typed in the dates the executives had given her and frowned as she saw how much there was. She was going to have to email her teachers to ask for some extensions on her homework...
"Rayne! Rayne!"
"Lisa!", she laughed, "I'm not late for once!"
"Well, you are actually," Lisa laughed, as she sat down beside her, "We were supposed to meet on the other side of that bridge!"
"Wh-ah...", said Rayne, embarrased, "I guess I got mixed up..."
"Well, it's no wonder if you've packed your whole life onto that thing!", Lisa frowned, as she scanned Raynes PDA, "Jeez, there's so much on here..."
Rayne yawned reluctantly and laid down in the grass, "I guess there is - hey, you're distracting me again!", she sat up suddenly, "Come on - you've got to tell me how the interview went! What did they say to you?!"
"Well," said Lisa slowly, and she broke into a large smile, "They want to give me the role of Nina!"
Rayne gasped, "That is so great! Oh my gosh, we are going to have so much fun Lisa!"
"I know", laughed Lisa, "I never thought this would happen and I'd actually get a job! And... well, I don't think either of us really expected you to get the actual lead!"
Rayne sighed and laid down into the autumn leaves again, "I know - life right now is so perfect!"
And it's going to stay this way... isn't it?

CHAPTER 25

Spoiler:
"Cause you're gonna make me, make me love you,
Nothing at all, nothing that I do,
Promise I made, promise I made..."

"Er, Rayne? Rayne?!"
Rayne jumped in suprise and tugged her headphones out of her ears, "Lisa, you scared me!"
"Sorry, but you couldn't even hear me! What are you listening to anyway?"
"Oh, The Promise I think... should I go check the boarding times again?"
"That's why I was bringing you back out of the Land of Girls Aloud Rayne... the flights postponed again..."
Rayne sighed and leant back in her worn seat, "You've got to be kidding me... do you know why?"
Lisa shrugged, "I dunno... it just said its postponed for another hour. Anyway, you can't complain - they offered you a private jet!"
Rayne pulled a face, "Why would I want to go home in a private jet? I'd probably lose half my things on the plane if I went on my own anyway."
RING.RING.RING.
Rayne dug around in her pocket for the ringing phone, "Hello?", she asked, having finally retrieved it.
"Rayne? Is that you?"
"Oh, hey Brianna," Cousin, she mouthed to Lisa, "Yeah it's me. How are you?"
"Fine really... but Auntie Katherine told me to ring you and say that she's gonna be in London for a while."
"A while?"
"Yeah - it looks like Grans going to be in hospital for longer than we thought, so she's moving into your old house again so she can be nearby. She said she'll ring you when she gets the phone connected. But - she said you were in New York for some audition?"
"Oh yeah... I should probably talk to her about that when she calls next."
"But what audition was it for? Did you get the part?"
"Um, yeah..."
"Seriously?! What - was it for TV? Are you gonna be on Ugly Betty or something?"
"What?", asked Rayne, confused, "Look - just ask my mum, ok? I gotta go..."

CHAPTER 26

Spoiler:
Lisa sighed as she leant back in her seat, watching the clouds pass by her window, "Well," she mused, "At least Buisness Class is great."
"Yeah...", Rayne yawned, "But it's kind of harder to appreciate when your flights three hours late... Don't you need to ring your aunt and say you'll be late getting back?"
Lisa shook her head, "No - she's not home this weekend anyway. What did your mum say when you rang her anyway?"
"Oh - she's gonna be in London for a couple of months still... I didn't tell her about the whole television thing yet. I told Brianna to tell her in about a week, when she's more settled in. I don't want her feeling she has to come back, and if she hasn't fixed the old house up when she finds out, she'll probably come straight to L.A. Hey, turn on the news channel; I haven't had any time to watch it latley."
Lisa fiddled with the remote on her armrest, "OK... wait, which one is it? Channel 14... Right, that's it!"
It didn't look like much had changed - politicans still gave five minute answers that had nothing to do with the question asked, and celebrity break-ups topped the news. Well, for about 30 seconds. Suddenly, a flashing 'breaking news' banner ran across the bottom of the screen, and the reporters interview with a celebrity-relationship expert was cut short.
"...and, back here in the studio, we have some breaking top news just coming in. We're recieveing confirmation from the Head of State that the six month long investigation into Sailor Senshi has turned up no definite results. He claims that although they have recieved an overwhelming amount of leads from the general public, all of these have turned out to be false. This news coincides with the first cast announcement of ABCs ground breaking drama series based on the mysterious teenager - 17 year old Jake Thompson of Supernatural is set to play the heroines close friend Jason Miller. Now... let's go to our corrospondent inside of the ongoing police conference on the investigation..."
"Rayne, did you hear that?!"
"Yeah... the police just wasted six months trying -"
"Not that! Jake Thompson!"
"Lisa, I told you this yesterday..."
"You did?", Lisa asked, suprised, "Oh... I thought you were still talking about that Biology homework, so I wasn't listening... But, anyway!"
"Are you only realiszing NOW that most of the people in this show are going to be incredibly famous?"
"No - I'm only realiszing now that some of the people in this show are going to be incredibly famous BOYS!"
Rayne rolled her eyes, and turned the TV over. "Right", she announced," Just for not listening to me, we are watching Doctor Who."
"What? Rayne, that's all you ever watch! Can't we watch the old Sailor Moon episodes? They're showing them on channel 8 - give me the remote!"
Raye surrendered the remote and turned to gaze out of the window. Well... at least the police investigation hadn't turned anything up. Maybe now they would stop trying to find out her secret, and leave her in peace...

CHAPTER 27

Spoiler:
It was pitch black outside by the time they were escorted off the plane. On the bus to the terminal, they texted their friends to say they were back in L.A, and checked their messages for the first time in three days. Both of their phones were packed full of missed calls and messages, and as Rayne scrolled down hers, her phone suddenly flashed and turned itself off.
"Hey, did your phone run out of charge or somethin Rayne?"
"I guess," Rayne shrugged, "It's okay - I'll just use my PDA if I need to message anyone. Should I drive back home, or should we get a bus, and I can come and get the car tommorrow."
"Are you sure you're up to driving Rayne? You look pretty tired."
Rayne yawned reluctantly, "I guess... we'll just have to get the bus then. Oh - I think this is out terminal; grab your suitcase."
The two girls climbed off the bus, dragging their suitcases behind them.
"OK - bus shelter, bus shelter...", Lisa said, standing on the tips of her toes and turning on the spot, "I can't find it! How is anyone supposed to see it in this dar - Rayne, where are you going?!"
Rayne turned around, "Well, it's this way - can't you see it?"
"No!"
"Oh!", said Rayne, "Um... me neither! But, uh - I asked someone on, on the bus!"
"Right...", said Lisa, disbelievingly, "Let's go then..."

20 Minutes Later

The girls sighed in relief as they walked onto the warm bus out of the cold.
"Remind me again why you said no to the private jet and limo?", Lisa shivered as they sat down.
"To be honest right now I'm really regretting that...", Rayne answered shakily, rubbing her hands together, "Why is it so cold tonight?" She rested her head on her rucksack and closed her eyes. "Wake me up when we get there, okay?"
Lisa shook her shoulders, "You can't go to sleep! I'll probably end up falling asleep too, and we'll end up on the wrong side of L.A!"
RING.RING.RING.
Rayne rubbed her eyes as she dug gloved hands into her pockets. "Hello?", she said wearilly into her PDA.
"Rayne, darhling!"
"Oh, hey Chris...", she yawned, mouthing agent to Lisa. "You okay?" She listened intently for a few minutes to what he was saying, "Yeah, I'll make sure to do that as soon as I get home... Sure, I'll keep that in mind... Right - can you get him to call tommorrow instead then?... Okay then, see you then."
"You have an agent?", asked Lisa, frowning.
"Didn't I say?"
"You said that you were getting one... wait - is that Chris Jones?"
Rayne nodded, resting her head back on her rucksack, "Yeah... look, I'm just gonna rest for like half an hour - can you wake me up then I'll do the rest of the journey after, it's just that I've got the worst headache suddenly."
"Sure."

CHAPTER 28

Spoiler:
Rayne woke with a start, breathing hard.
"Awake, are you?", laughed Lisa, "I couldn't be bothered to wake you up - we're almost there. Hey, are you okay?"
Rayne swallowed hard and nodded, "Yeah - I, I'm fine..."
"You sure?", asked Lisa, getting out of her seat and reaching up to pull down her suitcase.
"Mmm-hmmm...", nodded Rayne again, standing up, "This is my road then..."
The girls thanked the driver and walked off the bus, up the drive to Raynes house. Rayne opened the door and yawned as they walked into the living room. Lisa collapsed into the armchair, and rested her head on the cushions.
"I'm too tired to go upstairs - can't I just sleep here?"
Rayne laughed and threw a cushion at her, "You can if you want, but don't blame me when you wake up tommorrow with a crick in your neck."
Lisa waved her hand lazily, "Oh I'm sure I will... night..."

Rayne drew her legs up to her chin as she sat on the rooftop, feeling the now warm night air caress her skin. The dream had been so weird... unlike anything before. She sighed and leant back against the window behind her. What use would it be wondering about it? Maybe it was better not to think about things so deeply... after all - a dream is a dream.

BOOM.

CHAPTER 29

Spoiler:
"What the-", she heard Lisa gasp from downstairs. Rayne sat up, shocked, and peered out into the darkness.
"What was that...", she whispered to herself.
"Rayne did you hear that!?", shouted Lisa excitedley, having raced up the stairs and into Raynes bedroom, "Did you - Rayne?"
"Out here...", she called out, from beside the window. Her eyes narrowed and she straightened up, still looking out into the empty nights sky.
"Why are you out here?", Lisa asked, clambering through the window and onto the roof.
"Fresh air... but did you hear as well?"
"How could I not have?"
So it wasn't just me... can't have been anything out of the ordinary then.
"Hey," said Rayne, turning to Lisa, "Do you want to go and find out what it was?"

CHAPTER 30

Spoiler:
Lisa shivered inwardly as they ran down the streets. "Are you sure we should be doing this?"
"You said you wanted to!", called out Rayne, tearing faster down the block.
"Hey - wait up! Since when can you run so fast!?"
"Meet you there - it's that warehouse on Serenity Avenue!"
Lisa panted as she tried to keep up with Rayne, "Wait - how do you know it's -", but Rayne had already torn around the corner. By the time she reached it, Rayne was out of sight. Lisa clutched at a stitch in her side and tried to speed up.

10 Minutes Later

"I'm here! Rayne! Rayne...", Lisa moaned, looking around the desolate warehouse, "Where are you now?"
"Are you looking for something?"
Lisa turned sharply and looked up, eyes widening as she saw the shilouette standing on the windowsill just below the high ceiling.
"I take it that I've startled you...", the figure leapt from where she stood to the ground... 40, 50 feet... landing gracefuly, her copper hair tumbling in waves down her shoulders, "But you really shouldn't be somewhere like this."
"B-but I can't leave - my friends here and I can't just leave her here after that explosion!"
Sailor Senshi peered out at Lisa from beneath her mask, "Well, I'm sure I would have noticed if someone else had come in... I'm sure your friend isn't here."
"But she's the one who told me to come here! And... what was that explosion anyway?", Lisa added, timidly.
Sailor Senshi turned away from Lisa and faced the desolate wall, "I don't completley know... but if it's what I think it was, then it's not safe for you to stay here."
"But -"
"Go."
Lisa stood still for a moment, undecided. She finally nodded, intimidated, and ran out of the warehouse.

CHAPTER 31

Spoiler:
"Why don't you believe me Rayne?"
Rayne sighed, not looking up from her laptop, "I said I do believe you Lisa!"
"Then why are you saying it like that?!"
"Because this is like the hundreth time I've told you this...look,", Rayne sighed, closing her laptop, and turning to face Lisa, "I have every belief that you met Sailor Senshi in that old warehouse last night - okay?"
Lisa crossed her arms, "But you don't!", she insisted.
"You're being really imature about this now Lisa..."
"Oh - I get it!", Lisa said, eyes widening, "You're upset you didn't get to meet her, aren't you Rayne?"
"What?!
"It's okay to admit it Rayne - anyone would feel the same..."
How ironic is this?
"I mean," went on Lisa, "Especially since you were so close to meeting her. If you'd only got there a couple of minutes later after she'd unlocked the warehouse, instead of going back home..."
Rayne closed her eyes tight, "Lisa", she said through gritted teeth, "I am NOT annoyed that I didn't get to meet her - can you just drop -"
"...But I wish I knew what that explosion was though", Lisa mulled, oblivious to Raynes annoyance.
Rayne rolled her eyes and flicked the lid of her laptop back up. That makes two of us then...
RING.RING.RING.
"Hello?", Lisa spoke into the phone having raced to get it before Rayne, "Yeah she's here.", she covered the speaker, "It's for you", she hissed.
"Since it is my phone...Hello?", Rayne asked, taking the phone out of Lisa outstretched hand, "Oh - Janice. Hey."
"Nice to speak to you again Rayne. You're doing well, I hope."
"Pretty much. You?"
"Oh, good, good. The series is shaping up nicely. But, I really called to discuss what we were speaking about earlier this morning."
"Ah", said Rayne awkwardly, "Right... so, what did the executives say?"
"They've been discussing it for a few days, and they think now would be a good time to do it."
"Right", sighed Rayne, "I guess it's got to be done eventually..."
"I'll call you later with the final details Rayne - have a nice day."
"What was that?", asked Lisa curiously, as Rayne hooked the phone onto the wall again.
"The network chiefs. We're announcing that I'm playing Sailor Senshi."

CHAPTER 32

Spoiler:
The Next Day
"Do we have to watch it?", moaned Rayne, as Lisa dragged her in front of the TV.
"My house, my rules!", laughed Lisa, grabbing the TV remote, "Come ON Rayne - be excited! They're announcing you've got the ultimate dream role!"
"I am excited... But I really just don't want to watch this - it's embarassing!"
"Embarassing?!"
"Fine," sighed Rayne, "I'll watch it - but only because I'm afraid you'll sit on me to make me if I don't!"
"Good," said Lisa firmly, "So... what time is it supposed to be?"
Rayne checked her watch, "Soon, I guess."
"...and now, breaking news, as we take you to the ABC conference being held outside the ABC headquarters in New York."
The screen cut to a shot of a group executives approaching a podium in front of their eager audience. "That's right Kathy - the network chiefs have called a conference for their heavilly anticipated 'Sailor Senshi' series."
A severe seeming man had walked up the top of the podium. A hush fell over the babble of journalists and TV corrospndents.

10 Minutes Later

Rayne rolled over on the sofa, restless. "This is so boring... it's all dates and times, and news about the real Sailor Senshi..."
Lisa rolled her eyes, "See - you are excited. Oh - wait!", she said suddenly, raising the volume, "This is it..."
"...and so we feel that we have found a strong lead in sixteen year old, Rayne Melkes. She impressed us far beyond those who have been in this buisness successfuly for years, and the leading names in show buisness who have met her, truely believe her to be an amazing untapped well of talent."
The reporters started shouting out questions, and Lisa turned down the volume. "Well," she announced, "It's official!"
"I guess... hey," Rayne said suddenly, sitting up, "Do you want to go shopping? I kind of threw out my entire wardrobe in New York..."
"It's about time! Seriously Rayne... all you had was jeans!"
"What's wrong with that...?"

CHAPTER 33

Spoiler:
Rayne opened the door with her shoulder, bags dangling off of her arms. "Maybe," she panted, "We bought a bit too much..."
Lisa shrugged, "Hey - you needed it! Stars have to have proper wardrobes you know."
"But I'm not a 'star'..."
"Well you're going to be Rayne! Don't you have that press conference tommorrow?"
Rayne sighed, "Thanks for reminding me... hey, do I need to pick out an outfit today or should I just choose one tommorrow morning?"
Lisa stared at her as if she was mad, "Unpack those clothes and let me look - now!"

The Next Day

"Lisa!", groaned Rayne as Lisa looked at her criticlly, "Look - you can't moan about this outfit. You chose it!"
Lisa bit her lip, "You really should have done something about your hair though Rayne..."
"I thought we agreed that my hair was a lost cause?!"
KNOCK.KNOCK.KNOCK.
"Limos here!", Rayne called out excitedley, "Lisa, are you coming or what?"
"What? I'm not coming."
"Why?!"
"Because I'm not supposed to!"
Rayne frowned, "But, didn't I say you were coming yesterday? I guess I must have forgot..."
"Rayne! That's a pretty big thing to forget to tell me!"

CHAPTER 33

Spoiler:
"Wasn't that great?", asked Lisa excitedley, as they clambered back into the limo, the calls of reporters and TV corrospondents suddenly being cut off as the limo door was slammed shut by a guard.
"It was scary, Lisa! Seriously, all those people asking me questions... I didn't even know what half of them were talking about! Hey - Jeffrey", Rayne called out to her driver, "Do you know how long it'll take to get to my house if we drop Lisa off on the way?"
"About half an hour m'am."

The Next Day - IM Conversation
Rayne: I.Am.Under.Siege.
Lisa: Siege?!
Rayne: What seems like every single reporter in America is camping on my front lawn. I feel like Jessica Mastriani...
Lisa: Who?
Rayne: You know - the one who got hit by lightning in those books by Meg Cabot.
Lisa:...
Rayne: You know - 'Missing'.
Lisa: Oh I loved that show!
Rayne: Right...
Lisa: Anyway - how are you going to get to school then?
Rayne: Good point. Um - any ideas? Apart from ploughing throw the reporters in my car, I mean.
Lisa: Ah. Well, that's my only one gone.
Rayne: I guess when the bus comes I'll just have to brave it.
Lisa: Nice knowing you Rayne...

CHAPTER 34

Spoiler:
"Woah...", a girl whispered, staring out of the window as the bus sped past the crowds of reporters, "That's a lot..."
"I know," agreed Rayne, "Why are they so interested in this anyway?!"
"Well, you know how people are about celebrities", shrugged Lisa.
"I am not a celebrity!"
"Yeah - right," said a boy scepticlly, "So what else do you call someone with about ten flocks of journalists on their front lawn?"
"Um... media stalkee?"
"Wait", said Lisa slowly, "You don't think they'll follow you to school, do you?"
"Yeah," Rayne laughed, "Like they'd go THAT far."

5 Hours Later

"OK. So they did go this far..."
"Can you believe this?!", Lisa asked incredelously, slamming her tray onto the lunch table, "I mean - it was funny when that reporter from News at 10 burst into our Biology class, but if you even go outside it's like they're trying to KIDNAP you!"
Rayne rested her head on the table, "This is so not funny any more...", she moaned, "How can this be such big news?"
"Well, it'll probably die down a bit after a few days", said another girl fairly.
"But we haven't even started FILMING yet!", Rayne moaned despairingly.
"Oh yeah!", said Lisa suddenly, obviously feeling that she should change the subject, "Filming starts soon - won't that be great, Rayne! Can I have a look at your scripts for the episodes I'm not in?"

CHAPTER 35

Spoiler:
"But you can't show this to anyone - OK Lisa?", Rayne asked, handing over a script as they walked into her living room after school, "You know I'm not supposed to give these to anyone..."
Lisa nodded eagerly, "So - what episode is this one?"
Rayne shrugged, "Well, some of them make sense whatever order they're in, so the numbers aren't completley decided yet, but it's one near the end of the series. Hey - don't just flick to the end Lisa! You ALWAYS do that..."
"Oh, come on, I just want to look... wow - THAT'S dramatic."
"I know - I haven't got the script for the next one yet, so I don't know what happens after that."
"But it looks like Faiths going to get murdered by that mad woman!"
Rayne rolled her eyes, "It's not like they'd really kill her off - wouldn't the real Sailor Senshi get annoyed if they did that?"
"What, do you think she would?"
Yes, I would!
"Would you be a bit annoyed if someone was playing you in a TV series, and then you got killed off... especially when you were the main character?"
"Well...", said Lisa thoughtfuly, "She could come back to life!"
"I don't think Sailor Senshi has that power Lisa..."
"Just an idea Rayne! Anyway", Lisa smiled devilishly, "Two words - Jake Thompson."
"What about him?", asked Rayne, walking into the kitchen to get a drink.
"Have you met him yet?"
"Um, yeah, a couple of time in meetings and things. He seemed nice, I guess."
"And..."
"And what?" Rayne asked suspicously, sipping her drink and sitting on the sofa.
"What do you think?! Your character! Is she going to get together with his one?"
"What?! Lisa - you were there at that mass cast meeting. The script says best friend - not boyfriend!"
"Yeah - but I've only got a few of the scripts and isn't it obvious that they're going to get together?"
"Erm... a bit, but - Lisa, do we HAVE to talk about this thing all the time!", moaned Rayne, "Can't we ever talk about something other than this stupid TV series!"
"Uh - Rayne?", said Lisa pointedley, gesturing towards the window where Rayne had closed the curtains to block the view of the frenzied reporters, "Look outside. It's kind of hard NOT to talk about it."
